Saturday (Day 6)

Yoplait Peach Yogurt - 2 points

Fruit and Nut Granola Bar - 3 points

WW Broccoli + Cheese + Roasted Potatoes - 4 points

2 Apple Cinnamon Granola Bars - 6 points

Mexican Salad (no dressing) (Matador Restaurant) - 8 points

Healthy Choice Ice Cream Sandwich - 3 points

Total - 26 points (27)

One of the many pitfalls of getting a salad at a restaurant is the dressing, asking for dressing on the side is always the wisest move.

What happened at the gym:

Elliptical - Time: 6:00 Level: 6 Distance: .89 miles
Treadmill - Time: 17:40 Distance: 2.00 miles
Curls - 2 sets of 10 60lbs.
Inclined Sit-Ups - 2 sets of 10 (holding a 10lb weight on each rep)
Some other torso exercise I can't name......damn....I need to see the personal trainer.

I feel I did ok at the gym. There is plenty of room for improvement, I can do 3 sets of 10 for all of these exercises. It'll be important to run 2+ miles tomorrow, I need to get my conditioning back.

Friday (Day 5)

Yoplait Peach Yogurt - 2 points

2 Fruit and Nut Granola Bars - 6 points

Chicken Caesar Salad (Good Egg) - 10 points

Guiltless Chicken Platter (Chili's) - 12 points

Total - 30 points (27)

I was over on points today, but that's ok. I ate out twice and made the right choice each time. As long as I do well tomorrow, I am all set.

What happened at the gym:

Nothing, I usually don't go on Fridays

Tomorrow is a big day at the gym, there's no excuse to not put in a full workout. It would go a long way towards a good showing on Sunday's weigh-in.

Thursday (Day 4)

Yoplait Peach Yogurt - 2 points

Fruit and Nut Granola Bar - 3 points

Progresso Chicken Soup - 4 points

Green Apple - 2 points

9 vegetable rolls - 10 points

2 Weight Watcher's Chocolate Bars - 4 points

Total - 25 points (27)

Thursday was an exact duplicate of Wednesday as far as eating.

What happened at the gym:

Bench Press - 135 lbs - 2 sets of 7
Elliptical - Time: 6:00 Level: 6 Distance: .97 miles
Treadmill - Time: 17:41 Distance: 2.00 miles

I did ok, needed more weights though, I talked to the personal trainer at the YMCA tonight. Hopefully I can get started with him soon. I ran a solid 2 miles tonight. Not sure if I will be going to the gym tomorrow, if so, I need to post another 2 mile run.

Wednesday (Day 3)

Yoplait Peach Yogurt - 2 points

Fruit and Nut Granola Bar - 3 points

Progresso Chicken Soup - 4 points

Green Apple - 2 points

9 vegetable rolls - 10 points

2 Weight Watcher's Chocolate Bars - 4 points

Total - 25 points (27)

The eating has been a cinch for the first three days. I passed another test today when free bagels were offered at the office, I declined! The mind set is different right now, I feel that a few weeks ago the bagels would have looked very tempting. Today I barely acknowledged the bagel's existence.

What happened at the gym:

Bench Press - 135 lbs - 2 sets of 7, 3rd set of 5
Inclined Sit-Ups - 2 sets of 10
Elliptical - Time: 6:00 Level: 6 Distance: .94 miles
Treadmill - Time: 8:53 Distance: 1.00 miles (WEAK!!!)

The gym was quite busy, well actually the cardio machines were full forcing me to go weights first, then I went back to cardio, but pussed out and couldn't squeeze out another mile. I will be going to the gym tomorrow and waiting for the treadmill first, more than 1 mile is necessary.

Weigh-In Update

I tipped the scales at 200.25 pounds on Monday evening.

Start Weight: 200.25 lbs

Current Weight: 200.25 lbs

Weight Lost: 0.00 lbs

Weight Left to Lose: 28.25 lbs

Tuesday (Day 2)

Yoplait Peach Yogurt - 2 points

Fruit and Nut Granola Bar - 3 points

Progresso Chicken Soup - 4 points

Green Apple - 2 points

WW (Weight Watchers) Smart Ones Enchilada + Rice Dinner - 6 points

Sausage and Mozzarella Lean Pocket - 6 points

1 Weight Watcher's Chocolate Bar - 2 points

Total - 25 points (27 pts allowed)

I feel very focused thus far when it comes to food. You'll see some new items over the next few weeks as I am opting to shop at SuperTarget as opposed to my old standby of Costco. SuperTarget is going to give me more variety, which I think was becoming a problem in the latter half of '07.

What happened at the gym:

Elliptical - Time: 6:00 Level: 6 Distance: .90 miles

Treadmill - Time: 8:43 Distance: 1.00 miles (WEAK!!!)

I had a work function to attend this evening so the workout was cut short. It is going to take 5 to 6 trips a week if I am serious about reaching 172 pounds.

I feel I am off to a good start, and I look forward the first step which is Sunday's weigh in. If I put in solid workouts on Wed, Thur, and Sat, I can probably shed 2 pound this week....maybe more?

103 Days until April 20th

Monday (Day 1)

Like on "200 or Bust" I will be using Weight Watchers points to manage my food intake. I will log my points daily. At slightly over 200 pounds, I am allotted 27 points a day for food, this decreases to 25 points once I sink below 200 pounds. Here's is what I ate today:

2 Yoplait Peach Yogurts - 4 points (2 pts each)

Progresso Chicken Soup - 4 points

Green Apple - 2 points

9 vegetable rolls - 10 points

1 Weight Watcher's Chocolate Bar - 2 points

Total - 22 points (27 pts allowed)

As far as eating goes, Day 1 was textbook, I stayed under on points, which is going to be critical. I did a good job of maintaining my weight for the latter half of 2007, but every time I tried to go beyond 200 pounds and lose more weight, I could not control the food.

Something new I will try on this blog is report what exactly I did at the gym each evening. Spelling out what I am doing will bring more accountability to my workout regimen. Here's what happened this evening:

Elliptical - Time: 6:00 Level: 6 Distance: .91 miles

Treadmill - Time: 17:42 Distance: 2.00 miles

The key for the workout plan is to keep every run over 2 miles gradually building up my conditioning to run 5K on a daily basis (and hopefully building that to 10K in a few months). I will also build a better weight training regimen as well. There is great room for improvement on weights.

Time to finish the job, once and for all

Tonight I feel I have recaptured the motivation I had 17 months ago, I made many ill-fated attempts to finish this mission over the past couple months and they were down right embarrassments. This is going to be different, I have the hunger and the energy to make this happen.

The title of my last blog "200 or Bust" carried a significant meaning, that nothing but 200 pounds or less would be acceptable. I have chosen a new title for this blog, I'm calling it "172 Strong". What does it mean? I will not reveal that until I have reached my goal.

When will that goal be reached...........April 20, 2008!

It should take 16 weeks or about 105 Days to reach this goal.

I need to conduct a weigh-in tomorrow, I think I'm around 203 lbs., but ladies and gentlemen, I am back and ready to accomplish a more difficult challenge.

105 Days until April 20th
